Recognize the career paths and trade options in the electrical industry including the Department of Labor requirements and responsibilities of the employee and employer in an apprenticeship; Describe the typical components in residential, commercial and industrial wiring systems referencing electrical theories governing the use of series, parallel, and series parallel circuits; Interpret schematic diagrams including identification of units of electrical measurement, related calculations, and identification of the basic components of power distributions systems; Identify electrical and workplace hazards, their effects on the body, and the safety regulations, standards, and personal protective equipment designed to prevent workplace accidents; Apply the National Electronic Code (NEC) to guide the design, installation, and servicing of electrical systems; Use NEC to determine the specifications for outlet, pull, and junction boxes.
