Course Description

Learn heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R). Topics include alternating current (AC), compressors, refrigerant and oils, leak detection, evacuation, recovery, and charging, metering devices, and heat pumps.

Learner Outcomes

Explain how AC power is generated and how it is used; Describe the operating characteristics of various compressors; Discuss the characteristics of refrigerants and oils and the various applications which require specific oils; Describe the equipment and procedures used to leak-test refrigerant circuits; Explain the function of metering devices and their effect on refrigerants.
