Course Description

Three-Dimensional Design | Learn the application of elements, principles and processes in making 3-dimensional art forms. Apply functional and nonfunctional designs using traditional and contemporary techniques related to clay, wood, metal and mixed medium. Explore the integration of visual elements and design concepts through developing studio projects. No previous art instruction is necessary. CEUs issued. $432 includes $60 fee. Note: Also offered for credit as ART 102.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss design history and the artistic process including experimentation, sketching and modeling; Discuss elements of design including line/contour, planes, mass, positive/negative space, texture, light and color, and time and movement; Utilize concepts and principles of making sculptural art forms using a variety of materials and methods; Identify the integration of visual elements; Perform aesthetic critical evaluation by using observation, relationships and associations and interpretation.
