Course Description
English Basic Skills classes are designed for students who are just beginning to study English. These classes address listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and are offered at no cost to all eligible students. Students develop English language skills for everyday life. Learner Outcomes
Recognize simple vocabulary words; Participate in simple, familiar conversations; Give and follow simple directions and instructions; Ask and answer questions; Use the telephone to make emergency calls and appointments; Learn to pronounce new words and language chunks; Read familiar documents and simple paragraphs; Write basic personal information and simple sentences with familiar vocabulary; Interpret symbols, schedules, charts and maps; Use high frequency verbs in the simple present, present continuous and simple past tenses; Identify basic information about U.S. symbols, history, and civic organizations; Discuss current events.Loading...
