Course Description

Medicine Aide Update | Certified medicine aides receive information on state regulations, new drug and care procedures, and commonly used medications. CEUs issued. $105 includes $20 fee. Note: Students who complete will receive a two-year certificate. Prior approval from program coordinator required to register.

Learner Outcomes

Describe current COMAR requirements for CMA renewal and define roles and responsibilities of this job; State principles of drug administration to geriatric patients and demonstrate the ability to perform dosage calculations and conversions; Describe medication administration documentation requirements and medication reference sources; Explain common medication errors and methods of prevention; Outline requirements for administering and monitoring psychotropic drugs to geriatric patients.
