Course Description
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED | Child care providers, teachers, camp counselors, security personnel, fitness trainers, lifeguards and any other nonmedical individuals learn adult, infant and child CPR, and choking procedures. Discuss basic first aid, medical emergencies and environmental emergencies. Train to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Textbook information available at AACC Bookstore. CEUs issued. $136 includes $41 fee. Note: Students receive a two-year certification. Bring textbook "Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED" and pocket mask (not face shield) to class. Both available at AACC Bookstore. Read book before class. Dress comfortably. Students who come unprepared may be asked to attend another class.Learner Outcomes
Recognize the general principles of first aid, medical, environmental and injury emergencies; Explain what an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) machine is and when you would use it; Explain the steps of CPR for adult, children and infants; Recognize and explain the signs of a choking victim; Demonstrate competency in removing PPE (personal protective equipment), opening an airway, use of an epinephrine pen and bleeding control with a dressing.Applies Towards the Following Certificates
