Course Description

Welding for Work: STICK | Learn the processes for oxy-fuel, gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc and shielded metal arc welding through hands-on instruction. Prepare to perform fillet and groove welds in carbon steel using E7018 electrodes in all positions. Passing the certification test provides AWS D1.1 welder certification. CEUs and Earlbeck Certificate of Completion issued. $4,676 includes $4,031 fee. Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll. Fire-retardant pants, shirt, hard-toe boots and safety goggles required. Bring shielded metal arc welding workbook and welding gear to class. Note: Sections of this course will follow Earlbecks closure schedule, not AACCs. Learner Outcomes

Demonstrate appropriate welding safety practices with equipment, tools and materials; Interpret basic welding symbols and codes and differentiate between the metallurgy of common metal alloys; Demonstrate how to align welding machines to proper polarities and amperage settings; Demonstrate fillet and groove welds in all positions on carbon steel materials; Perform AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel welder certification test coupons in 3G and 4G position on a 3/8" plate.

Self-registration for Earlbeck welding courses ends one month prior to their start date. Dependent upon facility capacity, registration after that date may be arranged with the Apprenticeship and Applied Learning Department at ccit@aacc.edu or 410-777- 2970.
