Course Description

Dental Assisting and Radiology: Lab | Learn the basic skills necessary to become an entry-level dental assistant. Make impressions, pass instruments and take dental X-rays. Prepare for the Dental Assisting National Boards Radiation Health and Safety exam. Textbook information available at AACC Bookstore. CEUs issued. $975  includes $125 fee. Prerequisite: High school diploma or GED. Corequisites: OPA-370 Dental Assist and Rad-Lecture. Note: English as a Second Language students must earn a composite score of 310 or better on the Level of English Proficiency exam, or successfully complete Capstone Level ESL coursework. Note: Additional cost for Dental Assisting National Board Exam for the Radiation Health and Safety exam. Additional cost for teal scrubs and shoes.

 

Learner Outcomes

Identify teeth and dental instruments; Prepare dental materials including dental cement, alginate, and dental stone; Practice four handed dentistry and material exchange; Complete a full mouth series of dental x-rays and expose an occlusal radiograph; Assemble low speed and high speed hand pieces.
