Course Description

Advanced Gas Metal Arc Welding: Pipe | Learn techniques required of a qualified MIG pipe welder: proper tacks and feather edging, filler metal angles, manipulations for open root pipe and welding on carbon steel pipe with GMAW-SC and FCAW processes. Train with ER70S solid wire short circuit transfer GMAW down bead root with E71T-1 flux cored wire hot and fill passes, upward progression. Train to ASME welder qualification to ASME IX, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code in the 6G position on carbon steel. Passing the certification test makes you eligible for an all-position ASME welder qualification. CEUs and Earlbeck Certificate of Completion issued. $2,750 includes $2,386 fee. Prerequisites: OPT-394 or CIT-235 Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training and OPT-396 or CIT-327 Intermediate MIG Welding Training, or OCC-345 or CIT-335 Welding for Work MIG, or permission of instructor. Learner Outcomes

Perform safety inspection of equipment and accessories; Set machinery to desired polarity, wire speed and voltage settings; Construct pad welds in 2G, 5G and 6G positions with GMAW and FCAW; Create open root plate groove welds in 2G, 3G and 4G with GMAW and prepare complete pipe welds in 2G, 5G and 6G positions with GMAW and FCAW; Practice pipe welding techniques to ASME IX, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code standards on the 6G position on carbon steel.
