Course Description

Intermediate STICK Welding Certified Training | Prepare material and perform fillet and groove welds in carbon steel using E7018 electrodes in all positions. Geared toward structural welding code vertical and overhead tests. Passing the certification tests provides an all-position limited thickness AWS D1.1 welder certification. CEUs and Earlbeck Certificate of Completion issued. $3,025 includes $2,612 fee. Prerequisite: OPT-394 Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training, OCC-344 Welding for Work: Stick, or permission of instructor. Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll. Fire-retardant pants, shirt, hard-toe boots and safety goggles required. Bring shielded metal arc welding workbook and welding gear to class. Note: Sections of this course will follow Earlbecks closure schedule, not AACCs. Learner Outcomes

Perform safety inspections of STICK welding equipment and accessories; Demonstrate how to align welding machines to proper polarities and amperage settings; Demonstrate fillet and groove welds in all positions on carbon steel material; Perform AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code-Steel welder certification test coupons in 3G and 4G position on 3/8" plate.

Notices

Self-registration for Earlbeck welding courses ends one month prior to their start date. Dependent upon facility capacity, registration after that date may be arranged with the Apprenticeship and Applied Learning Department at ccit@aacc.edu or 410-777- 2970.

Prerequisites

Registration for OPT-395 requires successful completion of OPT-394/CIT-325: Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training, OCC-344/CIT-334: Welding for Work: Stick, OCC-345/CIT-335: Welding for Work: - MIG, OCC-346/ CIT-336: Welding for Work: - TIG, or permission of instructor.
