Course Description

Intermediate TIG Welding Certified Training | Gain skills in the gas tungsten arc process. Prepare material and perform flat, horizontal and vertical fillet welds and flat groove welds in carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Geared toward AWS D9.1 specification for fusion welding for aerospace applications. Passing the certification tests qualifies you for AWS D9.1 aerospace code for carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum certification. CEUs and Earlbeck Certificate of Completion issued. $3,025 includes $2,612 fee. Prerequisite: OPT-394 Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training or permission of instructor. Note: Must be 18 or older to enroll. Fire-retardant pants, shirt, hard-toe boots and safety goggles required. Bring gas tungsten arc welding workbook and welding gear to class. Note: Sections of this course will follow Earlbecks closure schedule, not AACCs. Learner Outcomes

Perform safe set up of TIG welding equipment; Explain the differences in TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum; Demonstrate fillet and groove welds on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum; Perform AWS D17.1 certification plates on carbon steel, aluminum and stainless steel.

Notices

Self-registration for Earlbeck welding courses ends one month prior to their start date. Dependent upon facility capacity, registration after that date may be arranged with the Apprenticeship and Applied Learning Department at ccit@aacc.edu or 410-777- 2970.

Prerequisites

Registration for OPT-397 requires successful completion of OPT-394/CIT-325: Fundamentals of Welding Certified Training, OCC-344/CIT-334: Welding for Work: Stick, OCC-345/CIT-335: Welding for Work: - MIG, OCC-346/ CIT-336: Welding for Work: - TIG, or permission of instructor.
