Course Description

Art Education for Older Adults | Discover the historical roots and current developments in visual arts through lecture and demonstration. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Develop an informed opinion and appreciation of varied art forms; Demonstrate an understanding of the arts as a reflection and molder of society; Develop musical listening and critical skills; Discuss connections in music: genre, style, rhythm, historical perspective, and cultural filter; Discuss outlets available for artistic expression as performer, audience, or supporter; Recognize art as an influence on well-being; discuss art and the whole person; Apply the knowledge gained to become educated and appreciative supporters of society.
