Course Description

Clothing 1: Design, Sew and Sell | Build knowledge of how to design, sew and sell apparel. Explore sewing techniques, garment construction, pattern manipulations, layout and cutting techniques and marketing techniques used to sell finished products. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Identify major parts of a sewing machine and learn techniques necessary to construct clothing; Interpret the symbols used in commercial patterns necessary to construct clothing; Discuss fabric choices and assemble and complete sewing projects; Demonstrate various methods of advertising, displaying and pricing merchandise; Determine ways to increase sales by using appropriate marketing techniques.
