Course Description

Computer Awareness | Learn about the theory and practical applications needed to operate a personal computer. Gain an understanding of computer terms, functions, hardware, operating systems and application hardware. Textbook information available at College Bookstore. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Explain the history of personal computers and hardware components; Demonstrate an ability to understand today's computer technology and trends, including hardware, software and Internet; Define common terms and functions associated with personal computers; Develop a basic working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system and various applications; Review various applications available with today's personal computers.
