Course Description

Contemporary Topics: TED Talks | Explore, critically assess and formulate perspectives on topics of importance and interest through the use of TED Talks. Discuss a variety of themes including culture, politics and democracy, aging, medical science, social sciences, happiness, humor, and social ills. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Explore current events as they pertain to the economy, politics, popular culture, and technology; Examine individual thoughts and beliefs as well as the thoughts and beliefs of others; Enhance skills related to research analysis, group process, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills, community involvement, and community service; Examine the concept of personal responsibility for local, national and global issues.
