Course Description

Foreign Cultures in Focus | Explore the diversity and variety of cultures influencing the world today. Examine foreign cultures and their differences and similarities to American culture to gain a basic understanding about how culture affects an individual's world view. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Define the concept of culture including acculturation, ethnocentrism, mores, subculture, multiculturalism, and identity issues; Describe the typical family structure found in world cultures; Examine the role of political ideologies in shaping world cultures and history; Describe the way that geography contributes to and affects culture.
