Writing for Children | Explore the changing world of children's literature and understand the various formats, from babies' first books to novels for young adults. Learn the tools and resources needed to create fiction or nonfiction books for children. $113 includes $75 fee. Note: Online course. Offered in partnership with ed2go.

Learner Outcomes

Identify the various formats of children's literature - from baby's first books to novels for young adults; Discuss the two recent trends in children's literature - children's picture books and literature designed for middle and high school readers; Discuss techniques in nonfiction research and how to improve writing by uncovering facts through primary and secondary sources; Demonstrate knowledge of editing and rewriting with a working manuscript to critique; Discuss the needs of publishing houses and how to target publishers with query and cover letters and submission components.
