Course Description

Poetry Part 2: Expand Your Poetic Portfolio | Experiment with different forms of poetry. Discuss elements of poetry using published poems of various time periods and styles. Write poems and practice revision and critiquing skills in a workshop setting. $80 includes $10 fee. Note: WRI-347 Discover Your Poetic Potential is recommended, but not required.

Learner Outcomes

Recognize and analyze literary elements used by professional poets; Discuss the various forms of poetry and how form affects content; Write at least five original poems utilizing advanced poetry techniques and applying class discussions; Demonstrate the strategic revision process in poetry including critiquing techniques; Articulate useful, critical advice for peers in a collaborative setting.
