Course Description

Read and discuss ideas about democracy through the ages and across disciplines (essay, oratory, poetry, political commentary). Deepen your understanding of an imperfect form of government but one preferable to autocracy through succinct in-class readings.

Evaluate current realities of the domestic political landscape; Understand American history and the evolution of an idea; Distinguish histories and cultures beyond the mainstream “noise”; Enhance communications skills of reading aloud, listening, thinking, and storytelling; Discover points of entry into challenging, thought-provoking texts.
