Community Interpreting Foundations: Part 2 | In this course, students will prepare to use their multilingual skills to become professional community interpreters. Course content is designed for students at the Advanced Low proficiency level or above in their target and source languages. Apply interpreter code of ethics and standards to legal, emerging specializations, and remote interpreting contexts; apply appropriate decision-making strategies for common challenges in community interpreting with a focus on communicative autonomy, mediation, and advocacy; employ sight translation, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting skills in community settings via role play simulation; demonstrate applied professionalism, respect for cultural differences/nuances, and culturally responsive mediation.
