Course Description

Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics | Explore Aristotle’s thoughts on human flourishing. Read and discuss ethics, intellectual curiosity, human good, friendship and happiness. Delve into he timeless questions of the good life, including what is the goal of human life? What is the nature of happiness? How do we act in the world? Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Discuss how the application of our attention and energy express our pursuit of happiness; Explore aspects of happiness as a rational activity; Consider the challenges and rewards of friendship and how friendship can change over time; Explore kinds of friendships, reciprocity, equality and inequality in friendship, and the need for friendship; Enhance communications skills including listening, thinking, speaking, and writing.
