Course Description

Pool and Spa Operator Recertification | Gain the knowledge and skills needed to take the pool and spa operator's recertification exam. Learn about regulations, maintenance, filter systems, chemicals and forms. Exam given at end of last class. CEUs issued. $79 includes $18 fee. Prerequisites: Proof of current county Pool Operator license or a Certificate of Completion from a state-approved Pool and Spa Operation Training Program taken within the past three years. Email Laura Howard, lehoward1@aacc.edu, to receive permission to register. Email chesaqua@msn.com at least five days before the first day of class to order the required textbook, "The Basic Pool & Spa Operations," Maryland Edition v. 4.21 (2021). Review all chapters before class.

Learner Outcomes

Identify and list health and safety rules and regulations governing swimming pools as released by the State of Maryland Health Department; Describe fundamentals of filtration, circulation, filters, pool chemistry, chlorination, pool water tests and measurements, and seasonal pool care; List and explain the requirements for proper pool and spa sanitation; Identify and explain possible ways to trouble-shoot common problems.
