Course Description

Understanding American Sign Language Imagery | ASL's beautiful language can be understood best as conveying an idea in images. Master communication and increase ASL fluency using the "classifiers" method of creating images when speaking the language. $119 includes $10 fee. Prerequisite: CSL-303 Conversational Sign Language: Level 1 or previous ASL instruction recommended.

Learner Outcomes

Identify three important differences between a visual language and a spoken language. Demonstrate using inflection and modification when telling a story in ASL. Implement Hand shape, Movement, Location, and Palm Orientation sign parameters when using symbols to represent subjects in ASL. Differentiate the syntax for representing subjects in ASL from the word order found in English. Practice ASL fluency and interactive skills using specific signs in a small group setting.
