Course Description

Understanding 5G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth | Demystify the magic of wireless technology and gain a basic understanding of the concepts that make it work. Discuss the history of cellular communications and understand the meaning of 3G, 4G, 5G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology and how it can affect your daily activities.

Learner Outcomes

Define the 5th generation mobile network and list two concepts that make it work; Describe three key elements of the history of cellular communications and the difference between 3G, 4G, and 5G technology; Distinguish the difference between WiFi and the Internet, and summarize how each of these technologies are designed to function;  Explain Blue Tooth technology and list three disadvantages to using Blue Tooth communication; Discuss the limitations of the newest technologies and name two potential applications of wireless technology to improve our daily lives.

Grading: Students will receive a Y if they attend the class and an N if they do not. Attendance: Students must attend 60% of the instructional time of this non-credit CEWD class to pass. Class participation: Students are encouraged to participate in this CEWD class.
