Course Description

Rising Atmospheric CO2, Global Warming and Climate Change | Examine global warming, the physical basis, impacts, methods for control of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), reduction of atmospheric GHG concentration, and potential lines of research into mitigation and risks of geo-engineering.

Learner Outcomes

Examine the theory and technical developments that led to the discovery of global warming; Discuss the influences of humans on the climate system; Explore how plants respond to rising atmospheric carbon dioxide and climate change; Discuss the role of temperature, melting ice caps and mountain glaciers on sea level rise; Explore the methods by which the rate of carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels can be reduced.
