Course Description

Historic Baltimore Church Architecture: Part 2 | Participate in an evening lecture and daytime tour of Baltimore citys historic churches. Examine ecclesiastical architecture, c.1850 to c. 1950. $81 includes $35 fee. Note: Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lovely Lane Church, and Cathedral of Mary our Queen will be visited. Transportation by AACC included. Extensive walking required. Participants must be able to walk and stand for hours without assistance. Bring a bag lunch or purchase on own. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for outdoors.

Learner Outcomes

Examine ecclesiastical architecture at two churches in Baltimore within the city from different periods and styles; Distinguish the characteristics of Georgian, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival and Romanesque Revival styles; Compare and contrast the differences between the structures studied and the design origins of each building; Define the historical importance of ecclesiastical architecture and its influence in the Baltimore community; Discuss and analyze the architectural sites.
