Course Description

Brazilian Portuguese for Beginners | Discover the beautiful language of Brazilian Portuguese. Start learning the sounds of the alphabet and develop pronunciation and vocabulary in a fun, comfortable atmosphere. Master simple conversations and discuss the Portuguese culture and civilization, both in Brazil and Europe. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Articulate the names and sounds of the Brazilian Portuguese alphabet and stress the appropriate syllables to develop pronunciation; Recite common phrases and greetings employing who, what, when, how, how much, why and when; Demonstrate knowledge of proper grammar and practice using Estar and Ser verb conjugations; Initiate a simple conversation with questions and answers; Discuss Portuguese culture and civilization, both in Brazil and Europe.
