Course Description
Examine the fundamental principles of American Sign Language. Explore basic sign vocabulary, syntax structure, finger spelling and numbers. Discuss the origins of sign language. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.Learner Outcomes
Identify five facts regarding the origin of sign language and its development to present day usage; Recognize and practice over 100 introductory vocabulary words and numbers using American Sign Language fingerspelling; Examine American Sign Language structure, conjugations, pronouns, non-manual signals, topic comment structure, and question structure; Demonstrate ten masculine, and ten feminine signs that denote gender and explain the designated placement; Execute three or more introduction, and name signs commonly used in American Sign Language culture.Loading...
