Course Description

Discover how to create films using smartphones by practicing basic techniques such as filming and editing with various apps, discovering affordable equipment, and acquiring skills to produce high-quality movies using only a smartphone. Note: Senior Cycle fee class. Students must be 55 years or older by start date in order to enroll in this class.

Learner Outcomes

Identify four basic film making techniques that are applicable to mobile movie making and visual story telling; Explore shooting angles, lighting and sound recording and practice filming using a smartphone to capture high-quality video; Edit movies using smartphone and computer applications and demonstrate the ability to trim, cut and add transitions; List five inexpensive gear options to enhance a smartphone movie project including lenses, tripods, and microphones; Create a high-quality mobile movie using a smartphone.
