Course Description

Sauces at Home | Watch an HCAT chef demonstrate traditional and contemporary sauces. Learn the five “mother” sauces used to create hundreds of sauce variations that dress, compliment, enhance and bring out food’s flavors. Learn to prepare basic emulsion sauces with a whisk; explore shortcuts using blenders and food processors. $32+ includes $10 fee.

Learner Outcomes

Identify ingredients used in to make a sauce; Recognize the importance of mise en place, getting ingredients together; Observe the safe usage of professional kitchen hand tools and utensils; Observe various cooking techniques; Discuss the recipes on the online discussion board; Apply proper technique for preparing and cooking the recipes at home.
